Hartlief Corporation Ltd is a multifaceted meat manufacturing company, selling fresh and processed meat. Since 1946, our business philosophy has been grounded in integrity, professionalism and a continuous commitment to produce quality guaranteed products, based on the German tradition of the Fleischermeister (Master Butcher). By carefully crafting each and every product, we are able to consistently deliver a quality experience.

Hartlief Corporation Ltd specialises in the supply of value-enhanced meat products, from farm to fork. With a proud heritage of sourcing and producing locally, our brand represents the best quality meat in Namibia. The company supplies the retail, wholesale, food service and hospitality trade locally and also exports processed meat products to RSA and other African countries. Hartlief Corporation Ltd group of companies consists of Hartlief Continental Meat Products (Pty) Ltd, Hartlief Continental Meat Products SA (Pty) Ltd and Farmers Meat Market Mariental Abattoir and is proudly part of the O&L Group.

The hartlief story
Early 1940s
Karl and Inge Hartlief take over Hoffend’s Schlachterei, a small family butchery in the heart of Windhoek.

Hartlief relocates to the Northern Industrial Area and merges with neighbouring butcheries, Raith and Kandler, to form Hartlief Continental Meat Products.

The business rapidly expands and in 1984 the Windhoek Advertiser reports the Hartlief factory as being the most modern and best equipped meat factory in southern Africa.

Hartlief and Farmer’s Meat Market Ltd (FMM) merge and become Farmer’s Hartlief Consolidated Meat Products (FHC), which was soon changed to Hartlief Corporation Ltd. Through the merger with FMM, Hartlief acquired the FMM Mariental Abattoir.
